My Learning Object

By completing this artifact, I learned that the creation of interesting and thought-provoking presentations do not have to be extremely long, extensive, or difficult to make. This presentation on celebrations could be used as an intro or conclusion to the Celebrations and Traditions unit within the Grade 2 Social Studies curriculum, but really could also be integrated at any grade. This could even be viewed as a cultural class audit in which teachers and students get to know the other members of their classroom at the beginning of the year. As a Catholic Teacher this also goes hand-in-hand within through Fully Alive units through the grade levels, as students consider who and what have influenced them throughout their lives, and what is important to them.

Although there are some drawbacks to using Animoto (ie. the trial version only allows for 30 second videos), this encourages students to think critically about what they wish, and need, to include to get their ideas across to the audience with a limit amount of time and space.
